Existing Resources for Expanding Jimdo

While we've always debated internally about how much information to share with users about hacking our system, there are already several fantastic resources in existence.

Before you can become a Jimdo power user, you should start by fully understanding the Jimdo system. Start by spending some time at our Support Center. To become an expert designer on our system, work through all of the articles in BasicsDesign, and FAQ.

If you are interested in using the blogging or ecommerce systems in Jimdo, then read through all of the articles in the Blogging and Store sections as well.

Tutorials

In addition to the basic articles, there are some advanced tutorials that we created in the past.  Some of these are a little dated, but all of the information is still relevant and can really open your eyes to the possibilities of what you can accomplish with Jimdo if you have the right knowledge.  We'll be updating and expanding on some of these concepts in Expanding Jimdo, but definitely take time to read and test out some of the concepts from the following tutorials:

Modifying Jimdo Templates with CSS: Learn the basics of how to inspect a Jimdo website to find different elements to modify. Add or remove spacing, hide elements, or change the top bar to stay fixed or move with the page when scrolled.

Anchor Links: Link to different points on the same page.

Make Sections of a Web Page with Full-width Backgrounds: Create backgrounds for areas that are solid colors, images that scroll with the page, or images that stay in place while the page scrolls past it.

Creating a One Page Website: See step-by-step instructions for creating 5-section website. Learn how to make different sections with a background image, add anchor links, and insert CSS and javascript.

Blog Posts

Beyond the Support Center, there have been some excellent blog posts from the official Jimdo Blog that can also expand your knowledge of the Jimdo system and the best practices to make amazing websites for yourself or your clients:
